We get it. It’s no secret that CrossFit can seem VERY intimidating to many of you. You’ve done your research and have seen plenty of videos of men and women, who are seriously ripped, lifting a ton of weight, doing rope climbs, and a bunch of other movements that make you think “There is no way I could ever do this.” Well, fortunately, you’re wrong.
Here, I’ll explain why and give you a step-by-step guide of how to get started and cover every detail of what to expect on your first day.
I can’t even begin to tell you how often I hear “I wish I would’ve been doing this years ago.” And time and time again intimidation is often a big factor as to why clients didn’t start much sooner. Sure, CrossFit can be difficult, but a workout is NEVER impossible. CrossFit is universally scalable. That means no matter who walks into the doors of CFC, we can give them the same exact workout as every other client we have and be able to scale or modify according to their fitness level.
We’re able to achieve the difficulty of a workout according to relative fitness. We understand that we are not all built the same or at the same place on our fitness journey and we treat each of you as such. We still want you to work as hard as the person next to you, BUT only according to YOUR fitness level. So that could mean using less weight, making the run shorter, doing ring rows instead of pull ups or just moving a little slower.
Can’t do pull ups? No problem. Haven’t climbed a rope since grade school? No problem. Is a 1 mile run more running than you’ve probably done all year? We’ve got you covered.
Your First Day
You did it! You decided to take the plunge and join us at CFC. We couldn’t be happier to have you! But we know there are still some first day jitters and worries that you have. So follow these steps:
- Get in your car, on your bike, on the bus, which mode of transportation you would like, and head on over. We are located at 69 Horseblock Road, Centereach, NY 11720. Only 1/2 mile past the Centereach Bowling Alley on your left (coming from Middle Country Road.)
- You will see parking in front of the big bay doors, as well as parking on the left side side of our building. You can also park on the shoulder. Some classes will get pretty busy so you may need to utilize the shoulder or wait until the previous class departs. Avoid the urge to park behind the gates on the right side of the building since the gates are closed and locked during the evening.
- Now walk into the heavenly doors of CFC. When you walk in, you can head straight to our front desk and someone will be with you shortly.
- You will create your online profile which you will use to sign up for classes and then get a brief overview of what day 1 will consist of.
- It’s time to jump into your warm up. Afterwards we will teach you some of the foundation movements, and finally we will go into a small workout. We understand it’s your first day and we will not give you more than you can handle.
That’s it! You made it through your first day!
Now that wasn’t so bad, was it?
So what are you waiting for? Get started today.
